The Hardest Part About Loving Dogs
Let’s be honest, no matter how many years we get with our dogs, it will never be enough. They fill our lives with so much love, laughter, and loyalty that saying goodbye never feels possible… until suddenly, it is.
As a photographer (and a deeply devoted dog mom), I’ve learned something that hits deep: sometimes the most meaningful pet photos aren’t always taken in celebration, but in quiet gratitude. Gratitude for the love that’s still here, right now.

Roxie’s Story: Living on Borrowed Time
I never thought I was living on borrowed time with my soul dog, Roxie. I figured she was just slowing down after having her some of her teeth removed and a lump taken off her paw. If I had known what was coming, I would’ve taken thousands more photos and given her endless hugs, kisses, and cuddles. Of course she'd also get an abundance of her favorite treats: watermelon and steak.
Losing her taught me something I didn’t fully understand before: pet photography matters now. It doesn’t just showcase what your dog looks like it captures who they are and who they are with YOU. Their personality, their love, their quirks. And when they’re gone, those photos become proof that this love was real and wild and beautiful.

Why These Moments Matter
I never wanted to wait until it was too late, when the glimmer in their eyes faded and no longer shine the way they always had. I wanted pet portraits that still carried their joy, their spark, their mischievous little smirks and even their side eye - not sorrow.
Sure, I had a gazillion photos of my dogs (I mean, I’m a dog photographer; it’s basically a job requirement). But what I didn’t have were the images that captured us, our connection, our story.
Selfies count, sure, but they can’t quite catch those in-between candid moments. The way your hand naturally finds its home on their fur. The quiet peace of just existing together. The tiny details that whisper, this is love.

Slowing Down for Senior Sessions
That’s why I make scheduling a priority for photograph senior dogs and those dogs whose days might be a bit more limited than we'd like with my Golden Sessions. These photo sessions move at your dog’s pace, not yours or mine. Every moment is guided by patience, comfort, love and care. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.
We take our time because that’s exactly what our faithful companions deserve.
And honestly? The most meaningful photos aren’t the ones where everything’s perfect. They’re the ones where your heart is wide open and you're both fully present.

The Perfect Time Is Now
If you’ve been thinking about booking a pet photography session with your senior pet, don’t wait for the “right” time. The right time is now.
Because love like this deserves to be remembered while it’s still here; muddy paws, gray muzzles, and all. ❤️
